NWEPDI has extensive cooperation and communication with many well-known international companies and sent our staff to internationally famous companies & research institutes for study and communication several times. NWEPDI possesses cutting-edge technologies on electric power development and has trained a talented team who are familiar with international codes, standards and rules.

In 1981, NWEPDI firstly introduced the manufacturing technology of GE and the design technology of EBASCO (USA). Besides, NWEPDI cooperated with EBASCO for the design work of Phase I of Shandong Shiheng Power Plant Project (2X300MW).

In 1994, NWEPDI, SARGENT & LUNDY and China Power Construction Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd. jointly established as Jingsa Electric Engineering Corporation. Since its foundation, NWEPDI has sent about 150 engineers to the USA for training and participation in design work. Under our joint efforts, NWEPDI has successfully completed the design of Dalian, Dandong, Ligang and Yangzhou coal-fired power plants and the design of Montery Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP) in Mexico and SandHill CCPP in the USA.

In October 1995, Northwest Power Engineering Contracting Company of (Northwest Electric Power Design Institute) and Hitachi (China) Co., Ltd. (Hitachi) jointly established Xi’an Hitachi & Northwest Electric Technical Development Co., Ltd. NWEPDI has successively sent 23 management and engineers to this company for work. It has completed the bidding of more than 20 power projects and design of relevant projects in China and foreign countries, like Kakizaki, Ooi and Matsuura of Japan, TUAS of Singapore, and ILO of Peru, etc.

On November 18, 2004, NWEPDI signed a memorandum of strategic cooperation agreement with AVEVA (UK). NWEPDI is the only design institute in China which signed a memorandum of strategic cooperation agreement with AVEVA (UK).

NWEPDI has kept good communication relationships with Lanco, Adani Power and MOSERBAER Group of India and SembCorp Industries of Singapore in recent years, also has established a complete technical and business system applicable to the operation process of foreign projects. NWEPDI keeps reserving relevant resources to strengthen its competitive capacity.

Adhering to the aim of establishing “an international engineering company”, NWEPDI keeps increasing its resource investment and expansion strength in overseas power markets. The proportion of international businesses to its total businesses has increased year by year. NWEPDI has successfully entered the electric power markets in Vietnam, India, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iraq, Indonesia, etc., and has occupied certain market shares. Our businesses in domestic and international are initially developed in a balanced pattern. NWEPDI has successively completed the design work of Mozaffargan 1x320MW oil fuel unit project in Pakistan, Nagarjuna 2x600MW power plant, Ambala C 2x600MW power plant and Mundra (4x300MW + 6x660MW) power plant in India, CANDIOTA 1x350MW power plant in Brazil, Puttalam 3x300MW coal-fired power plant in Sri Lanka, and 190MW combined cycle power plant in Malaysia.
