Hainan (hele) 750 kV substation successfully put into operation

On June 20, Hainan (hele) 750 kV substation project which is independently designed by NWEPDI successfully completed all tests and officially put into operation.

Hainan (hele) 750 kV substation is to meet the demand of more than 10 million kilowatt renewable energy export in Hainan prefecture of Qinghai Province. This hub power station is the energy collection and access point of Qingnan converter station at the sending end of Qinghai Henan ± 800 kV HVDC transmission line. The project has many challengeable characteristics such as high altitude (2850m station site elevation), large daily temperature difference (a maximum daily temperature difference of 29 ), strong ultraviolet radiation and joint construction with Qingnan converter station, which all posed challenges for equipment selection and layout optimization.

Facing the challenges, NWEPDI carefully planned in advance and organized the project team to prepare and study a number of special courses, such as "Investigation on O&M and Equipment Selection of 750 kV in Qinghai Province", "Research on converter station equipment under high altitude and extreme environment", "Research on joint construction and transition scheme of converter station and substation", which provided technical support and design scheme for the first indoor scheme of 750kV GIS. In the process of design implementation, NWEPDI always sticks to the serve concept of “Customer first, meet customer needs”, and comprehensively improve the design quality and strengthen the site service. NWEPDI’s high-quality design products and on-site service have been unanimously recognized and affirmed by the owner and the construction subcontractor.

The successful operation of this project has also laid a foundation for the commissioning of Qinghai-Henan ± 800 kV high voltage project which will start on June 30.
